马库斯，伊丽莎白和露西依次落座于这张没有主次之分的圆桌，在圆桌上所有人都平等，可以尽情发言，这是亚瑟王时代的规矩，也是贝德维尔家族所传承下来的规矩。
“so, the meeting begins（那么，会议开始）.”岁数最大，超过一百岁的那位老者敲了敲自己桌面上那顶铜制小钟，发出了一声沉闷厚实的钟声，久久回荡在这间已经从马库斯一行进入后就被专门人员从外部守卫着的会议室。
“lucy bedivere, the direct descendant of the man who was removed from the family, is going to return to our family now. what's your opinion（露西·贝德维尔，那名被家族除名的男人的直系后裔，现如今打算回归我们的家族，诸位有何意见）？”年龄最大的元老率先抛出了此次会议的讨论点。
“i totally agree（我完全赞同）.”伊丽莎白力挺自己的侄女，对着露西露出了慈祥的笑容。
马库斯没有言语，却是点了点头。
露西神色平静，容颜冰冷，但还是对着自己的亲叔叔和亲姑姑投来的视线露出了一抹浅浅的微笑。
“i don't agree. that man is no longer a member of our family. he broke the rules of family lineage, married an ordinary foreign woman, and defiled the purity of the noble lineage of our bedivere family（我可不同意，那个男人已经不是我们家族的成员了，他坏了家族血统的规矩，娶了一名普通的外国女子，玷污了我们贝德维尔家族高贵血统的纯洁）！”一名头发花白，脸上长满老年斑元老出声呵斥道，“the blood in that guy's daughter's body is not pure enough（那个家伙的女儿体内所流的鲜血已经不够纯粹了）！”
露西的嘴角扯起一抹讥讽笑意，如果真要论血统的话，你们这些普通人又如何能与注射过“弑神血清”的自己相比？只不过相对于贝德维尔家族而言，屠神者组织更加隐秘而且不能被人所知晓罢了，更何况自己已经脱离了屠神者组织，否则露西当场就想指着那位元老的鼻子咒骂反驳起来。
脸上长满老年斑的元老此话一出，圆桌上其他元老顿时也是纷纷附和起来，大有一副会议就此结束的样子。
一位元老正准备说些什么，已经微微张嘴。

对于马库斯的突然发言，众元老并没有如何反感，那位被抢先发言的元老也并无愤怒神色，因为坐上圆桌之人便代表着话语的平等，不存在地位和辈分的区分。

“you（你）！”那名被怼的络腮胡长老上气不接下气，眼珠子都要瞪了出来。
“enough（够了）！”年龄最大、地位最高的元老满脸怒容，“ now, the family is separated from all kinds of troubles. it's not the time for internal strife（现如今家族才从各种麻烦的旋涡中脱离出来，元气大伤，不是起内讧的时候）！”
“i have no objection to lucy's return, but she has to hand over a sample that belongs to the family and is taken away by the man（对于露西的回归我并没有任何异议，但是她得交出一样本就属于家族，却被那个男人带走了的东西）.”一名脸色阴沉得可以淌出水来的元老死死盯着露西，他的眼神就如同捕食的猫头鹰一般。
“believe it or not, i don't know what you've been looking for, and my father never left me anything（不管你们信与不信，我并不知道你们一直在寻找的是什么东西，我的父亲也从来没有给我留下过任何东西）.”露西双手十指交叉，双肘抵在桌上，扫视着诸位元老们，一副初生牛犊不怕虎的模样，即使不是身处这张可以无所忌惮平等发言的圆桌之上，露西也一点不怵这些只是岁数比自己大的老家伙们，要知道自己曾经所面对的敌人可比这些老家伙们恐怖得多。
“it's impossible. if you don't hand it over, i'm not going to admit that you belong to our family（这不可能，如果你不交出那样东西，那么我死都不会承认你是我们家族的人）！”那名脸色阴沉的元老语气变得同样阴沉起来，而且身上的气势就像是一座亟待爆发的火山一般。
“then you should die. i'm not here to beg your permission, just to tell you that i'm back! my father did nothing wrong. i will take back everything you owe my father（那你便去死好了，我来这里可不是为了乞求你们的同意，只是告诉你们我回归了！我父亲什么都没有做错，我会将你们欠我父亲的一切，全部夺回来）！”露西直接站起身来，有大不敬意味地猛拍身前的桌子，将一众元老都震在当场，“and i don't have the time to chat with you bad old men here. i have to go back to equestrian lessons. my equestrian teacher is a handsome and beautiful man（而且我没多余的时间在这里陪你们这群糟老头子闲聊，我还得回去继续马术课，教我的马术老师可是一位长相帅气的美男子）.”
露西还有一件事没有说出口，她一定会彻底查明父母死去的真相，真正的幕后黑手究竟是谁，虽然身边亲人和同胞都说自己的父母是死于黑帮寻仇，但是直觉告诉她，这一切并没有如此简单。
一众上了年纪的家族元老被噎得说不出话来，只能干吹胡子白瞪眼，特别是露西最后一句话的威力，远比前面更加具有杀伤力，在场身材臃肿、皮肤松弛的元老们年轻时哪一个不是英姿飒爽、风采绝伦，屁股后面跟着一群爱慕者？只不过岁月不但是把杀猪刀，还是把猪饲料。
心思灵敏的露西知晓这场争辩和议论并不是如表面上那般让众元老发表看法和投票，来裁决自己能否回归家族，事实上叔叔马库斯凭借着族长的权利就能够力排众议让自己回归，伊丽莎白姑姑也做出过说明和承诺，而从现在看来，这场所谓的只是走个过场的会议实际是为了从自己的嘴里套出一个自己都不知晓的秘密，看来自己的父亲当初被逐出家族的时候，带走过某样很重要的东西。
露西的心中总感觉现在的家族有些云谲波诡，似乎处处暗流涌动。
马库斯对着露西暗暗伸了个大拇指，示意“做得好”，对付这些老家伙们，就不能心平气和地以理服人。
马库斯站起身来，拿象征着家族至高权利的权杖在地面点了点，说道：“then in the name of the patriarch, i hereby declare that the meeting is over. whatever your opinion, lucy will return to our bedivere family! although i can't really abolish the clan rules related to bloodline passed down by my ancestors, you can't change my clan leader's decision at all. unless you impeach my clan leader.but no one is more suitable for this position than me at present, and the number of impeachment votes you need is not enough. you need to know that most of the family members are on my side. as lucy said, we are here just to tell you the fact that lucy has returned to the family（那么我以族长的名义在此宣布，会议就此结束，不管你们的意见如何，露西就此回归我们贝德维尔家族！虽然我并不能真的废除祖先传下来的有关血统的族规，但是你们其实也根本改变不了我这个族长的决定，除非你们弹劾我这个族长。但是目前而言没人比我更适合这个位置，而且你们所需要的弹劾票数也不够，要知道家族大部分的同胞都是站在我这边的。正如露西所说，我们来到这里，只是为了告诉你们露西回归家族的这个事实罢了）.”
