    第二天，我来到伦敦北部的一所学校，一所非常好的学校，学校的名字我们大家都知道了。这是一所男校。大楼、花园都建得很漂亮。

    我脑子里还在想津巴布韦西北部那所尘土飞扬的学校，我看着那一张张温和地期待着的面孔，试图给他们讲一讲我上一个星期所见到的东西。教室里没有书籍，没有课本，没有地图册，甚至墙上都没有钉上一张地图。在这所学校里，老师们求我给他们寄些能教他们如何教学的书籍，他们自己也才十岁呀，而他们却求书若渴。我对这些男学生讲，他们每一个人，每一个人都向我要书读：“请给我们寄些书来吧。”我在这里演讲，我敢肯定，在座的各位都会知道，那一刻，你看着那一张张面孔，但那些面孔却充满茫然的神色。你的听众听不懂你所讲的事情：他们头脑里没有这种形象，和你给他们讲的东西联系起来。在这种情况下，讲一所学校矗立在乌云般翻滚的尘土中，那里缺水，那里到了学期末，杀一只山羊在锅里煮煮吃了，就算是期末的盛宴了。
